Overview
Nesterly is a platform that links empty nesters and retirees with spare bedrooms who want to age in place with trusted renters who are looking for affordable housing. Today, nearly half of all U.S. renters are paying too much on rent—which means there’s less available for other necessities such as food, saving accounts, transportation, and education/child care. Nesterly works to decrease housing costs by thinking creatively about existing space as well as linking different generations to address social isolation and the lack of affordability some face when it comes to aging in place.
How We Helped
Nesterly was one of six companies selected to receive grant funding through the 2019 Reconstruct Challenge. The 2019 Reconstruct Challenge was a prize competition focused on the affordable housing crisis in the United States by funding the implementation and beta tests of innovations working to decrease the ancillary costs of housing in the Louisville and Southern Indiana area thereby improving access to existing housing units by making them more accessible and affordable - with the goal to prove out innovative models and help them scale both regionally and across the country.
